'Homeless in the City' w/ Jeffrey (12)

In 2016, I'll be choosing a random homeless person to take to lunch each week.

In today's 'Homeless in the City,' I was led to a man named Jeffrey.

Jeffrey is 58 years old and is a native of Atlanta, GA. He has been homeless for three years and says he experienced homelessness shortly after being falsely arrested. After the arrest, he lost his balance in life and has not regained it.

Jeffrey says that he is diabetic and has HIV. He says that he contracted HIV 20 years ago and considers himself lucky to be alive after living for so long with an incurable disease.

He is one of seven children, but says that most of his siblings; and both parents, are no longer living.

Jeffrey hopes that there are more programs introduced to help homeless people.

We dined at Arby's in downtown Atlanta.
