"Homeless in the City" w/ Jeffrey (3)
Thursday, January 21, 2016.
In 2016, I'll be randomly choosing a homeless person to take to lunch each week.
I have titled this movement "Homeless in the City" and today it led me to a man named Jeffrey.
Jeffrey was born in Seattle, Washington, but has visited forty- two different states. He ran a successful painting business in Pennsylvania before homelessness and earned an average of $250,000 a year. Business suddenly slowed down and he soon thereafter found himself destitute and in need.
In 1999, he moved to Atlanta to try to better his life after the failure of his business, but never recovered to wealth or stability. He found himself homeless after moving to Atlanta and has been homeless ever since-----seventeen years ago.
He was seriously dating a woman when he ran his painting company, but after the business went down, he says she immediately left him. He still feels heartbroken to this day from her departing his life in his time of need.
During homelessness, he has been arrested several times for loitering. He has only four fingers on his left hand due to being injured by a waste dumpster truck.
We dined at Subway in downtown Atlanta.
God bless you, Jeffrey.
